Just within the last week when I go start my rabbit the glow plug light will stay on forever.
I have a feeling its not my glow plugs because I usually just get impatient and start it with no problems at all, but why does the light stay on for so long?
It never comes on once the engine is on. Could it be the glow plug relay?
***Also a note, not sure if it has anything to do with it, but when I get the car started there is an intermittent clicking noise that comes from behind the speedo cluster.
Sounds like a bad glow plug relay. If the relay stays on, then it could be that your glow plugs are staying on, which will fry them out sooner than normal.
Hint Hint Hint...... Always carry a spare glow plug in your car with the two wrenches that it takes to remove it.... You won't ever get stranded because the glow plugs all crapped out.
You can take it apart, but I think it is partially solid state. They only make the "fast ones" now.
If you still have the old slow glow, then it could be your temp probe... and don't ask as I forgot where it is....
I think on one of the water flanges. Check your Bentley or Haynes.
I found my wire that supplies power to glow plugs is hot even with key turned off (figured it out while testing glow plugs)....key off. when wire touched ground. Could wire have been switched on back side of fuse panel? Thanks
