    Fuel Injector Cleaning Every 15K???

Got my 08 serviced this weekend, just an oil change. The service rep told me that I should be cleaning my fuel injectors every year or 15K to eliminate carbon build up. My next visit will be 15k. Is this true or are they just trying to sell me on this idea/service that is really not needed until later on.

    Please advise

that seems early to me. i used to be a service advisor (for ford) and i wouldn't even offer it until atleast 30k. sounds like an upsell. Did someone look at the throttlebody to see if there is a build-up? Do you run cheap gas? I guess it is possible that you need it, but very unlikely at this mileage and with the service advisor telling you every 15k- seems more like an upsell then needed maintenence (at this time)

I use shell gas. He was saying that doing it every year will make a big difference down the road vs. doing it when you really need it. He said cleaning the deposits yearly will stop excess build up and prolong the life of the throttle body/injectors down the road....

Sure, keeping everything clean will help down the line. However 15k is too earily. The 2.5's have NO carbon buildup on the throttle body even after 80k miles...not even a glaze of it. I would say do it every 40k miles.

Awesome man, I thought 15k was way too early for that, the damn thing is still pretty new HA!

I will let them know about my findings if they bring this up at my next service. Also I meet with a service advisor that I normally don't deal with...so I am sure he was going for the up-sell...

    GRACIOUS!
