Went to go get groceries tonight and when we got to the store (about 4.5 kms away) we smelled gas around the car. didnt think anything of it and went in. hour later we still smelled gas and thought it might be a junker parked beside us. Drove to another store and I could still smell it. PANIC... looked under the car and gas was dripping from the fuel filter. FU-DGE-CK. drove home.![]()
Saturday night nothing is open for a garage till Monday morning. good thing I don't have to go anywhere tomorrow.. Dealership opens at 7am Monday.
I stuck my head under the car and the gas seems to be coming from the fuel filter as far as I can see. I don't trust the VW jack enough to really have a good looksee.
I threw some kitty litter under the car and I think the pressure must be released enough cause I only have a quarter or bigger size drip in that. When I opened the drivers door and the pump kicked in at the store it was dripping quite heavily so I just wont go or do anything till Monday morning.
I dont know what the hell happened to it. all the lines are on secure.![]()
damn. sorry to hear that man. thankfully it will be covered under warranty. good luck!
(sold) 2007 united gray 4dr 17" vision wheels and ground effects
mods: tt single borla, carbonio intake, torque mount insert, eyelids, H&R 24mm rear sway bar, FK high sport coilovers, and a giac flash.
replacement for the bunny: VF stage II mkiv .:R32
best of luck, hopefully its a quick fix at the stealership

Please don't drive it again. Have it towed in. The exhaust in that area becomes hot VERY quick and the last thing you or I want is the car to ignite and become a safety hazard to you or others.

well got the car there at 7 am, told the service manager what happened and that I just had it in for the 16,000km service. " Oh, well it shouldnt do that" was his response.
called at 3:30 but they havent looked at it yet. sitting here like a ball of nerves. I hate waiting.
they are open till 7 sooooo fingers crossed. I know its got to be something simple. I couldnt see where the failure was but it seemed like a pin hole or something in the filter. I dont know. I'll post up when I get the car back.
EDIT
So I get the Rabbit back. the service manager told me that they have seen a few cars come in with the same problem. must be a certain batch of rabbits got a faulty fuel filter... yay.

Glad that you solved the problem. I hate going to the dealer because it's a matter of dedicating a whole day for the smallest things.
Geniune VW parts are made of the highest quality....sometimes.
Yeah I own a rabbit. How does it drive? I wouldnt be able to tell you.
