    09 Rabbit vs RX8 Manual

Me and a friend were driving behind a gray rx8 so i pull up next to him and my friend asks if he wants to race. we were going at about 30 mph and i hear him downshift so i drop into second and literally WALK right by him, idk what he was doing or if my cars just that beastly but he couldnt even keep up. i slowed down at around 70 and i was still ahead by alot.

ahhh, I didn't know about the 250 hp model. I've raced several around town off the line and murdered them. The low end the the rotary blows.

RX8 are built for high end. Rotary motors do not but that much torque down on the matt but do make HP. I'm sure you can take him at lower speeds but over 80 mph I think he may have us. Just my opinion.

There's a guy in my town who is a rotary engine guru. He started a movement of rx7's about 12 years ago. He's now starting to develop stuff for rx8's.

RX-8s makes 232 hp with a 6-speed manual and 212hp with an automatic transmission.
low end power rx8 is slow...BUT once that thing starts picking up speed. i dont think our rabbits can compete.
rotary engine is one of the best engines made out there (with high reving engines)..but its a lot of work to maintain it and burns alot of oil.
it also has the 50/50 weight distribution balance...on wavy roads...that thing is quick and stable....

i got respect for the rx8....but i love my rabbit better anyway

Nice kill... although I do love the RX8s (manuals)

On a side note, was reading motor trend and they tested the Cadi CTS-V and it made like 400 or 500 tq at 3,400 rpm I believe.... now THAT is beastly

The new CTS-V is one of the best every-day supercars out there - basically a 4-door ZR1. You have to fuel it with endangered owls.

Yeah, I'm not big on Cadis but after I read that article I change my mind VERY quickly. Thing also costs WAY less than the M and AMG series

I'd drive an 04 in a heartbeat. 400HP, competes with the RS4/M5/etc, and can be had for $20k-22k.

We did a project around that car in college, that car is a beast! I would end up spending so much money on gas what that thing.. it would probably get 8 miles a gallon how i drive.

True, but I would never get a used car like that without some sort of warranty on it. The parts and labor on it would be probably be through the roof, not to mention it being raped from time to time.

There's a dropped, boosted RX-8 near my university and that thing sounds so freaking insane. When he high revved off a red and shifted to 2nd, the blow-off alone sounded like that thing had some crazy power. Def's wouldn't want to get caught in a race against that thing.

There is no way that RX-8 was trying to race you.

isnt the cts-v a supercharged LS2 motor. Not the same motor the ZR1 has.

i have to disagree with that, i test drove a RX-8 before i bought my rabbit, and that thing was a lot slower in the low end vs the rabbit. like everyone else has said, it would kill the rabbit in the higher speeds, like over 60, but off the line, or even a rolling start at 20-30, the rabbit would pull ahead for a bit.

Agree with this. Since i have 150torque at 1500rpm, ill take many cars from low speeds.
