anyone know where you can rent a engine bridge... or maybe a way to mcgiver one... lol... need to change my clutch but don't have the money to purchase or to have it done... any suggestions... or anyone in the the glouster/camden county area willing to loan for 3/4 hours for a few bucks...??? i know its a long shot but at least i asked...

In my clutch DIY I listed a few places to buy those bridges. I would help you out gladly, but you are a little far away to be worth it lol

yea i just dont have the money to buy one now... and with no car im even worse off... thanks for the diy though... ive been studing it so i can just run through it... ive seen someone on vortex use some uni-strut and 2x10s... no luck for me... im already in a hole and now its getting filled in... sucks...

What about tomorrow...memorial day. I MIGHT MIGHT MIGHT be able to yank strings. Otherwise I wouldput the car on ramps, use some wood and floor jack and support the engine weight via oil pan

can you explain... i cant find the cause of the leak... but what do you mean spider gear pin...???

if you look at your diy... the pic of your car with the engine bridge... the 3rd pic after... im assuming its the diffrential where the axle goes to the wheel... my leak is coming from that area... i cant be 100% sure... but def in that area... maybe a seal break... i cant tell... whats this retainer pin...??? i dont see a hole anywhere... what case...???

well i just read about the spider gear pin and im going to try to get a good look at it... thats case is what i was talking about... brb... check back here for my post...

it seems to be coming from here... http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik...disp=inline&zw

more pics of the same... its not coming from the other side of the trans... just this side... and its all over... the lower portion of the suspension and down the hole passenger side axle almost to the wheel... sorry if the pics arnt clear... my phone is only 5.0 meg pixles... http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik...disp=inline&zwhttp://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik...disp=inline&zw

the dark patches are all from today... the lighter patches are from madukes van...

Sorry I was away yesterday. I cannot see the pictures as I don't have Gmail. Post them up on photobucket or send them to my email cmdaffara@hotmail.com
The case cracks most times on the inside and gear oil leaks out. The clutch is then destroyed. From the ones we've delt with in the shop the procedure vw wants us to follow is replace the trans, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing. Essentially you are getting a brand new power train.

well i sent the pics to your email... let me know what you think...

Took a look at the pictures. It appears you have a simple flange seal leak. Look at the brake master cylinder and be sure no brake fluid is coming from there. I had a similar leak on mine and when I investigated more, I found the brake master was leaking and dripping on the trans. If you find the brake fluid leaking and you remove the trans to find the clutch is soaked in it, have it towed to VW because now they pay for a new clutch.
WARNING do not put the front wheels on the ground if you remove the axles 100%.
