I have the basic single disk stereo in my rabbit. Will this kit hook up to that or do i need the premium 7 or whatever that one is called?

I want one of these so badly. I'm in the process of getting the RNS-510 (should be getting it by Thursday!). Is it the same setup?

Wait, one more question: How could you possibly do all that in one hour? I wish I was a tech That looks like it'll take me half a day.

How has this been? Do you still recommend it? I am definitely interested in doing this since I now realize I don't need the phone button on the steering wheel.

but, how do you answer a call? Do you have to touch the phone?

AND - most importantly - do you know if we can acquire this part and use it:

That would be cool to just reach up there and hit a button

I would also like to know how answering a call works. Have you installed this in the more basic single disk stereo? What is the interface like? Is there any stereos (oem) that allow you to upload contacts or make calls through the head unit so that you can just put your phone in the glove box and make all your calls?

Some 2009 and 2010 vehicles with factory bluetooth such as above either have those buttons on the roof OR they use the steering wheel buttons. The radio will store your phonebook from the phone when it pairs. The new cars you press the phone button on the wheel and it says "please say a command" and you tell it to dial number, phonebook, end, etc... The jettas don't have the phonebook feature on the prem 8 system. There is a TSB about it somewhere......

VW doesn't like posting up information on this stuff. They kick out new stuff all the time and leave us to figure it out and look like idiots infront of customers.

Looks like that's a yes Sean

From one of the Ebay Auctions:
"*for vehicles without a steering wheel phone button – answer and end the calls using your cell phone keypad."

yeah...dependson the system you have. Without buttons you answer with the phone. with buttons you tap the phone button on the wheel.

just got mine installed on monday of this week. love it. no problems with the person hearing me or vice-versa. now i am not missing calls b/c the music is too loud.

do wish i had the steeering wheel with the button, so i could press it rather than the answer button on the blackberry tour.

Any other display on the radio besides "Phone Active" ?

Does it display the caller when the phone rings? Anything else?

    Re: Volk-L bluetooth system

So I finally got this kit bc I hate shifting gears and talking on the phone at the same time. After looking at this DIY I decided Im going to screw this up so I dropped my car off at the dealer today (I think was getting dealer withdrawals too bc my car has not needed to go to the dealer for a while). They installed and it works great! I think the dealer recoded something in my HU bc it sounds louder/better to me for some reason.
Yeah I own a rabbit. How does it drive? I wouldnt be able to tell you.

    Re: Volk-L bluetooth system

Hey - I just the bluetooth kit installed. It works great with the iphone, but it really sucks when playing music via bluetooth.

It seems like there is no stereo, sounds like a mono track being pushed to the speakers - all speakers get the same sounds and volume. The Fade, Balance and tone controls don't work... Also the sub woofer does not fire.

I get much better sound quality with the mini-stereo plug into the AUX....

I was really hoping not to have ANY wires....

    Anyone have the same experience??

    Thanks!
