New member, would like a carfax

I am looking to purchase a 2017 Tiguan Wolfsburg Efition, Black/Black. I am looking to see anyone here can run a carfax
Vin WVGSV7AX1Hk012930 located in Oregon. It has 4800 miles.
My last Tiguan was totaled even though the dealer supplied carfax made no indication of this, and the dealer had no knowledge of this. I found all of this out when I took the Tiggy to a body shop for repair after being hit by some moron traveling to fast in the rain. They showed me the issues, and my follow up lead to the fact that the car was totaled after a $16000 repair. It was returned to the dealer and the person returning the Tiggy did not disclose this to the dealer, and the carfax did not disclose this.
Love the Tiguan enough that I can't stay away, giving up my 2013 beetle.
If someone can help thank you.
    Craig

The dealer is supposed to provide the CarFax as part of the VW PreCertified program.
IF they will not provide it, you are to contact VW directly.

Items are only reported to Car Fax if they were taken to a dealer, or repair facility
that uses all OEM replacement parts, and servicing, and maintenance. If you
take it to Big Dawgs up the street, then it won't be on the Car Fax..

IF the car was totaled, you would not have owned it, TOTALED means the
car is written off, and taken by the insurance company. IF it is sold and
repaired to sell by the insurance company, it will have a RECONSTRUCTED or
SALVAGE (R or S) title. It it illegal to sell it otherwise. The insurer will total a car
when the repair costs exceed a certain percentage of the car's value.
For example, a $10,000 value, with $7000 or more damage, they will
total it. I have seen them total a $15,000 BMW with $9800 in damages.
The guy typed in each piece of damage into his lap-top, and after about
15 minutes, I heard the laptop BEEP, and he said, "Well, that's it." I said,
"Totaled huh?" He said YEP, and that was that... Once the BEEP sounded,
it would not let him even enter any more damage at $9800 data, heh heh..
So, there was more, but it stopped at $9800, on a BMW... Low miles too,
but they take year into consideration also.

If a car was wrecked, and the person had the repair work done a local shop,
then it's not reported to car fax. My 2013 TDI? Had enough damage to
be totaled based on the value of it -vs- repair cost. I TOLD the adjuster
I was selling back to VW, so they went with the bare minimum, and I used
the check to buy the parts for under $600, and do it myself. The original
estimate was almost $7,000, which was for crap it didn't even NEED.
The adjuster went down to just over $3000 for me, so I could keep it.
I replaced the Fender, Hood, Fender Brace, Upper Grille, LH Headlamp and
had to yank and pull on the rear mounting perch for it, bla bla bla. I did
not even PAINT anything... So, of course, I did not report it to CarFax,
and SINCE the insurance company did not send it out to one of their
repair facilities, still no Carfax. The front end of my former TDI was beat
the CRAP out of, three times... I repaired it myself, each time... It's had a
grand total of at least $9,000 in damages, all repaired by ME.

If any damages are $500 or less, it is not required, by law, to be reported.

I would stay far Far FAR away from that $16000.00 repair...
