Hello. I am new here and live in sweden so my english is not so very good, but i try anyway. I have a tiguan 4wd 2009 that have electonic suspension on it. I want to switch to regular shock absorbers. Can i do that? My rear shocks are in bad condition and it cost plenty to fix.

You can go back to the regular shock, but not sure what kind of errors
will be generated (Check engine light). They are easy to replace on your
own; rears are always easier.

Still, even with the electronic, you buy the shocks, and replace them.
They come out easy enough, you just have the plug that goes back
in.

Basically, you jack each side up, and remove the wheel.
Unplug and disconnect all the electronic stuff.
The tower mount bolts, they come out, then you remove
the bottom mount bolt(s), and pull the shock out.

You then take the top mount off your old shock, and put it on the
new one. Then reinstall the shock.

No matter which way you go, the shock in and out will be
the same, electronic suspension or not...

Can you show a picture of the suspension where the shocks are?
Would like to see it, to be sure...

I am not finding ANYTHING on the electronic rear suspension, every shock
they show is just a regular shock...

You may be able to use VCDS to deactivate the electronic suspension,
not sure. Everything is connected on the CAN bus, they all communicate
with the ECU. These modules can be accessed with VCDS, and options
changed. There may be a separate light on the dash for the electronic
suspension. Have you tried unplugging the harnesses at the shocks, and
see what lights up on the dash? If you can live with the light, and go
back to regular shocks, then so be it.

As I said, I cannot SEE the suspension... Even the VW parts thing I use doesn't
show electronic suspension parts or options. IT lists shocks, but does not have
a different part numbers between Electronic and Not, just a shock absorber...
It should say Shock Absorber w/electronic suspension, and one for Absorber w/o
electronic suspension. Doesn't designate...
