Question about towing '17 GTI -Newbie

Not sure where to post this so I did so in two places!

I am about to pull the trigger on a '17 GTI Autobahn 6 speed. I would like to tow it on a tow dolly front wheels off the ground. Can that be done safely and also, will it have any effect on the warranty?

Appreciate your help and looking forward to getting to know this forum.

Yes, you can tow the car with the front wheels off the ground, as it
should be for any front wheel drive car with Automatic transmission,
even a DSG. Will have no effect on warranty. When towing an
automatic, the drive wheels should always be on the dolly. If a
rear-wheel drive, you use a flat-bed, only because, even though you
can lock the front wheels and tow by the rear wheels on a dolly; the
lock could break loose. Though, have towed with the front wheels on
the ground with a RWD automatic, had no choice. U-Haul assumed
my Geo Tracker I had, was a standard, and loaded the car front wheels
on the dolly so I towed it. Well, I burned out the lockup clutch as
fluid was spewing out the fill tube (rear pump was running with the
wheels), and I could feel the resistance of the car's drive-train on the
U-haul truck as I drove, it got worse and worse like there was a severe
drag. So, I had to turn it around, and it was fine, but the damage to
the transmission was already done. I should have sued U-Haul for the
damages, but the warranty covered it, I just didn't tell them that towing
it damaged it. U-Haul should have put it on a flat-bed, or told me to
    disconnect the drive-shaft.

That was a very, Very, VERY long time ago, and my first brand new
    vehicle, 1988.
