I own a 2011 Golf TDI.Purchased in 3/2011-December 2011 starter breaks thus is replaced for a pretty penny. Then in December 2013 it breaks gain!Replaced again for many more pennys.AND NOW DECEMBER 2016 IT BREAKS AGAIN? What recourse, what is hapeening, any and all feedback would be appreciated.Frustrated in rural america.
What does the gear on the starter look like when it's taken out? Any teeth missing?
Or, is it an electrical failure?
Or, when it was replaced, DID they use a starter for a GAS motor each time?
The diesel engine starter is not the same as the one used for the gas engines, it needs
more torque to start the higher compression diesel. You can hear the difference between
the two starters.
IF you use a gas engine starter on the diesel, it may work, for a while, before it burns out.
