    Lightbulb 2009 GTA Meets

    Hey all,

Now that the 08 meet season is on its way out shortly, we should start discussing our 2009 meets.

I know we all like the location on Hurontario & CourtneyPark, would I be correct on saying that? If not, what locations would you guys like to use for next summer? I was not around for the last meet with the GolfMKV guys, but it sounded that it was a great success. Was that location great/bad/just as good as ours?

I would like to make it an every week thing if possible. It sounds like the GTA area is getting INVADED with MKV's now. So many new members on this site alone from the Toronto area that I am very sure every week would be a success. Plus it looks like we have all hit the "modding fever" now. There would be plenty to talk about at every meet.

I will be purchasing a VAGCOM cable this winter with Calmec (hopefully) to bring to all the meets.

I tried starting this topic in our social group but kinda died cause its very hard to track whats being said in there and it bounces from topic to topic very easily. So what are you guys looking for in the 2009 season for meets? If you have a location to suggest, let us know! Any ideas are greatly appreciated as we want to make this fun as possible for everyone.

Once we decide on this, we will then talk about the 1st Annual GTA Rabbits Spring Cruise.

    Looking good man.

I like the courtney park location, but it gets kinda crowded depending on the time.

Are last meet at 400 and 7 was a little far away, but it was a good drive. The area where we were was complely open, could have had another like 100 cars or so there. Lots of room is good with alot more cars.

09 meets, lets keep doin the same stuff but go for a cruise afterwards would be nice. Any nice curvy roads around the GTA? that arn't pig infested..

I can agree with you that the current (hwy 10 & CP) location is a lil crowded. Especially when some ^^&%* parks her Saturn in the middle of the group (I had to mention that one last time)

Are there any areas near by that would accomodate a good amount of us without having to worry about the parking lot getting too busy for us? I like the 400&7 area personally (Its way closer as I live in Newmarket).

Secondly, do we care about GTI's coming? How was their response to having Rabbits show up last weekend? We just dont need a bunch of dicks acting like vortex members..... That would totally kill any good times.

Anyways, keep the ideas rollin! Did Calmec actually show last weekend?

Although the 400 @ 7 meet had alot more space, It was a bit out of the way, and i don't know any good cruisin' roads up that way. Next year we should host meets at a few different locations, Firstly its a bit of Variety, and secondly, always having it in the same place makes it inconvenient for some guys who have a longer drive (I'm still up for a Bolton meet, actually, lol). Having the guys from golfMKV was awesome, There was alot of respect, no GTI or Rabbit Hatin' going on. One of the GTI owners kept calling the GTIs "Rabbit GTIs" in the same manner that they are called Golf GTIs in europe, which i thought was cool (know your roots!).

Best part of the last meet was goin' for a run after with a few other MKVs, i definitely think Runs should be a part of every meet, and I'm more then willing to do the homework planning out good routes.

Canuck, if you pick up the vagcom cable, I'll pitch for half, no worries. We should still grab a pint at some point to discuss options for the spring cruise, new locations.... Oh and i still have a set of smoked sidemarkers for you.

You guys who missed out on the 400 @ 7 meet, you should have been there, Darkorb did a great job getting it all together, and it was the most cars we've had to date.

    Cheers
    Chris

EDIT: What do you mean "did i show"?! lol.... I might miss a few things on the boards here and there, but i try to keep up.

HAHAHAH, you posted 1 minute after I mentioned ALL these issues!! You sir have good timing. I bet you didnt even see my post before yours. lol

This sounds great. Lets make sure this is the ROC putting this together though... It would be nice to get more from MKV that have bunnies to log in to this site as well.

Multiple locations are a great idea. Say 3? One Central / East & West? Probably get a good coverage that way.

Would we like to keep CP&HWY10 as our main one?

I know, i posted, then noticed your post, and was like, DAMN just a few seconds too late, lol.

CP&10 is convenient for guys who don't know the area/first timers because its so close to the highways. but Im good with anything, I don't mind driving 30 mins or so in any direction.

I also have had a few idea's as far as our "local" rabbit/mkv club is concerned, so there's plenty to do while we await the spring. Anyone know where i can look into getting custom window stickers/decals? I've got to find something to do over the winter while you guys are modding, my budget is a bit tight to keep up with some of you.

I was actually hoping for a Bolton meet at St Louis. Mmmmm... beer...

I like the idea of having meets in multiple locations but staying with a 'home base' so to speak. Kinda gives a lil variety to each meet. We should also take into consideration a rain meeting place in case one day the weather doesn't cooperate.

Cruises are a great idea, as long as they are just that - cruises. I don't feel like getting hammered with another speeding ticket.

    Other than that, I'm easy.

Luckily...maybe, the highway was a little jammed up to call it a "mini F1" race. we were all stuck somewhere in and around the speed limit, even if it was twice the speed of the flow of traffic.

Honestly, there's probably safer, more legal, places to do things like that if we're gonna make it an aspect of the meets. When i say runs, im thinking more of hitting the twisties just outside of town. Another speeding ticket for me means "bye bye rabbit" when insurance comes up for renewal.

Canuck mentioned 17th sideroad going through Caledon. I used to drive that route every day to work, great scenery and twisties. Nasty attitude OPP though if you get caught. I think it would be a hoot to do during the day, with one person doing scout duties

This weekend (weather pending), there are some great roads around Port Credit (I think). Nice scenery, good photo ops, and a really fun drive. Even if only a few of us can make it, be great to work my wheels out a bit more before I switch em to winters.

I live in Port Credit and a good place to meet down here would be the Lakefront Promenade. Some good scenery for photos.
Also a good starting point for a cruise.

Ok, So lets make our WINTER meets at my bar. Sundays are great too. Pint & a pound for 9.75. Plus there is ample parking there we wouldnt have to woryy about getting our cars dinged when we arent watching them.

Secondly, Port Credit sounds great for a summer meet spot... Iono about now as it will be chilly this weekend, and lake wind sucks when its cold out. 7 degrees they are calling with 25kmh winds.

Did you guys wanna do one last fall meet at our usual spot?

Oh, and lets try to keep this on topic. The thread just about ran away from us there about the F1 on the 401....

I for one would love to be able to take the summers out for one last cruise before I hafta go winterized. If Sunday is sunny at least I say let's go for it. Though we should go a little further north to avoid that lake chill. We can meet wherever and cruise to the cruise for all I care!

So here is my situation for Sunday...

I work till around 5PM. Crappy I know. But as zootsuit has mentioned if you guys wanna go for a cruise up north of the saug and end up at my bar in Bolton, we can all meet up and hang out, have some food, watch some football, and for those legal to, have a beer By time your cruise is done, I should be done too. At least that way I get to take part somehwhat in the afternoon festivities....

Would you guys be cool with that?
