    Unhappy Golf 2.0 GT TDI 170bhp hissing sound and oil smell

    Hi guys i bought a 2005 Golf 2.0 GT TDI 170bhp a few months ago.
    When i first got it it was very fast and pulled great in every gear,
    over the past few weeks ive noticed a hissing sound and an oily smell and a loss in pulling power.
    Any help would be great ?

    As far as the hissing, check your intake after the turbo for leaks. Most common area are the
    hoses at the inter-cooler. The oily smell may be you're leaking oil past the turbo seal.

    If your CCV has a leak, you'll smell that too, but, usually does not cause a loss in power unless it's
    pulling unmetered air at the CCV, intake side.

    You can open the hood, have someone in the car depress the fuel pedal a few times and
    see if you can find the hissing noise.

    If you have a Blow off Valve (unless your turbo is VNT), check that... Usually
    the manual cars have a BOV.


    If you have not gotten any check engine light, then the power loss is not enough
    to set it.

    Ill take a look although ive got no idea where the intake after turbo is on my car.
    Is the CCV the crank case ventilation ?
    Do you know the location of the Blow off Valve ?

    Don't know what year you're talking, when they started using VNTs, there is no blow off valve.

    Intake AFTER the turbo, is all the tubing running AFTER the turbo, to the inter-cooler, to the intake
    manifold.

    Yes CCV is Crank Case Vent.
