I fancy something abit bigger, more powerfull and i would like a diesel.

I have been looking at the 1.9 TDI, and i am viewing one on monday - T reg, 126k with service history, 2 months MOT, but i will get him to put 12 months on before i have it.

I just wanted a few opinions? 126k ok for that age? what the life expectancy based on the fact that it has been serviced often etc?

Any one that ownes one also advise me what it is like on fuel just darting around the town?

Thanks

Hi there,
I am the proud owner of a 1992 VW Cabriolet Wolfsburg. I adore her. My hubsand offered to buy a 'newer' cabrio, but I wanted this. (I love the older body style) This is my second cabriolet, my first one ('89, bought in '97) survived my college years and died in Hawai'i. Long story. But I'm trying to get my second cabriolet running good (she runs but needs a lot of work due to last owner).
Here's my question. I don't see any tabs for me to view and/or post that are just for Cabriolets. Should I go under the Rabbit posts? It's the only model that I know of that is close enough to mine.
Thank you so much in advance!
P.S. Anyone else get those smiles from bystanders and other drivers when driving around in your old volkswagen? I do, I love it.

ALERT! Buying a New Volkswagen. Some thing you should know.

So, here's what's going on. Many states have laws on the books to protect the dealer if a new car has minor damage, i.e. door ding, minor lot damage, etc. so they can still sell the vehicle without having to disclose the damage to you. Usually this is around $300-$500 retail cost.

Starting January 1, 2013 Oregon changed their law to enable dealers to hide up to $1000.00 warranty cost damage. This means if someone keys the hood, and they repaint it, you're probably not going to be told about the damage. At least the dealer doesn't have to disclose this and they probably won't.

Let's talk about "Warranty cost" for a minute. This could be as much as 50% less than Retail. So your car could have up to $2000.00 in damage and the dealer would not have to disclose the damage to you.

If you're in the market to purchase a new vehicle, it may be worth your time to check into your local laws, as I've heard from other appraisers, this is not only going on in Oregon, but also other parts of the country. Franchisers, Dealers and Shippers are all lobbying for these type of laws to enable them to pass the damage on to you.

What you can do to protect yourself:

REALLY go over the car before signing any paperwork.

Look for overspray, paint lines and drips.

Check the bolts on the doors, hood, trunk and anywhere else to see if the paint has been broken.

Look at the vehicle's gaps, are they uniform or are they wider or misaligned than other like models on the lot?

Does the car have more than 25 miles on it? Look closer, there could be road damage already.

Check the glass for chips. I've seen many cars sold with small rock chips in the windshield and the salesperson know.

Check the interior, does the cloth or leather have any strange markings or repairs?

Hopefully this will help someone from buying a lot damaged new car.

Sorry, I don't mean to vomit all over the forum with my posts today, it's just I don't have extra time to hang out anymore and being stuck in bed with a kidney stone gives me a chance (excuse) to finally play a little and hopefully give you guys (and girls) some good info. :)
