I own a '90 Jetta Diesel with 519,000 kms. How often should the injectors be changed and how would I know when to change them? Same thing with the glow plugs. I have no idea if these have been changed before.

Hi there,

I recently purchased a 2008 certified pre-owned Jetta with 23,400 miles. It drives great and is in great condition, but i don't know if I have a problem with my breaks.

I didn't notice any warping or noises on my test drive, and the vehicle stopped like it should have. Then I examined the rotors and calipers, and being that the car was stored outside and up north where we get a lot of snow and ice I just took the condition for being cosmetic (Like I said the car stopped like it should have).

But now I seem to be hearing a little bit of friction when breaking a little harder then normal coming from the front calipers. Is this normal?

Then I took a closer look at the rotors and began to worry. The front ones look fine, but these are the rear ones.

Since this was a certified pre-owned VW I assumed things were in order and that it's mostly cosmetic.

What do you guys think? I'm I just paranoid?

Thanks for the help.

Hello folks. Sorry to post a question that has likely been answered a million times, but I could find no thread on this. I have just purchased a 2007 Jetta City with very low miles. Lovely car altogether (about my 50th VW). But I just can't find any specs on engine oil capacity and recommended weight. The engine is the 2 litre SOHV, 115 hp version (auto trans). Any help on this would be very much appreciated.

thanks

I've had my jetta for awhile now and I love it! But one thing leads to another and I want more kick to it! So I was wondering if I bought a turbo from a 1.8t and bought all the necessary parts to make the turbo work. The only thing I'm worried about is that would I have to change anything on the interior of my engine like pistons cams and all that?

Thanks for reading this.

Car: 2001 GLS Jetta, Auto, 152,000 KMs.

Situation:
- Car turns off when slowing down at intersections, and/or wont start right away, but will after several works
- Starter is working fine (replaced at 95KMs) and battery is brand new
- The car will just die at a stop sign. It will sometimes turn on on the first attempt, and at other times take multiple attempts.

Codes:
We took it into the shop today and got the following codes. The Check Engine light has been on for years and I'm not concerned with that; I just want to get it to run. If anyone can assist as far as potentially identifying what the problem is, I would be very helpful. Definitely not interested in fixing everything on this list - only what the problem is.
- 17772 cylinder 4 ignetion circuit open circuit p1364 intermittent;
- 18062 please check dtc memory of instrument cluster p1654 intermittent;
- 16804 catalyst system cylinder bank 1 operation too less p0420 intermittent;
- 17769 cy 3 1g circuit open p1361 intermittent;
- 16706 engine rpm sensor g-28 no signal po332 intermittent;
- cail fuse, fuel pump pearly, rpm sensor, cam shaft position;
- q2 sensor before cat;
- incmi cail fuse (line 1)

I just want to fix whatever exactly it is that is causing it to turn off. It otherwise runs well and I really don't want to throw more money into it at this point.

Thanks again everyone,

I have a jetta with a 2.5 engine 22k miles, my fans do not come on when I turn on the A/C, so it blows hot air, when temperature is halfway on gauge both fans kick in and my a/c works great. Anyone with a similar problem? Relay, sensor, modules I do not know what to do, This car had a fender bender, so I think it could be a wire not sending the signal. does any one have a schematic diagram for the a/c or a link where I could see them. Thanks and help pls...
