Hello,
I am looking at buying a second hand 2011 manual golf in the US. I test drove it and the clutch felt extremely soft. With barely any pressure from me it would go all the way down. It felt much softer than any other manual car I have ever driven (I am originally from Spain where most cars are manuals). Is this normal or could it mean there is an underlying problem with the car?
Thank you!

My '01 Golf' has been vibrating badly once I hit 65mph or so (3500-4000rpm), feels like front left side in particular (steering wheel vibrates, dash, etc.) and the front left feels soft or damp in turns. Tires are ok, recently had an alignment, new front shocks, and new control arms installed. Car doesn't really pull to either side...

Today I found a horizontal lever under the hood to the right of the engine, down and behind the battery, that seemed oddly angled (was double checking fluids). When I pushed the lever to the right (parallel with the side of the body) it seemed to lock in place - now the vibration has greatly diminished. Anyone know what this is? It's unlabeled, don't see it in owners manual...I'm thinking it was left 'unlocked' after the suspension work was done but am curious...

Hello fellow 'Representers of Deutschland'. I am not new to the VW family, but I am new to diesel engines. I just purchased a new Golf TDI that I absolutely adore, but I am having difficulty finding stations that have B5 or less biodiesel (the fuel recommended in the owner's manual). I'm soon to be traveling from Mississippi to my new home in Colorado (being a military spouse, I tend to move a lot).

All forums and information I have found (although I admittedly haven't fully searched this site) has been from 2007 or under, and all have said it's hard to find B5 fuel or less. Does anyone have more up-to-date intel, or possible know of a chain of stations that consistently offers ULSD B5 or less? Anything is greatly appreciated.

Auf Wiedersehen und Fahrvergnügen!:)

Hi,

I have a 2004 diesel Golf. I am keen to learn how to do basic maintenance myself like changing the oil. I seem to have run into a problem at the first hurdle.

I cant get the oil filter loose. I did buy a 76mm 14 Flute oil filter wrench but it does not appear to work. It is to small and shallow. As you can see from the photo the hexagon top of the cap prevents it from fitting.

Can some one tell me the type of socket I need. A web link to suitable socket would be fantastic. The Hexagon top is 3.5 cm wide. Is it possible to get a socket to fit around this which will allow me to loosen it.

Not a great start. Wont be giving up the day job!!!

Thanks for your help

I have a 2010 Golf Estate. 1.6 diesel, Bluemotion. I brought a dodgy adapter to plug in to the 12V socket to split it in to two. Problem is, the unit was faulty and has blown the fuse. The socket in the boot compartment doesn't work either. The manula doesn't list what fuses do what. I've done a visual inspection of the fuses (under the bonnet) and can't see anything wrong? Does anyone have a diagram or anything that would tell me what fuse does what? Are there any fuses anywhere else other than the main set under the bonnet. Any help would be great - Thanks:confused:
