I couldn't tell from the photo's release, but does it have rear drum brakes like some were speculating from some other pictures released?

I tried puting the new jetta into the service information system for VW. They are not releasing how to fix these things just yet. Just a few things i found is that it has an access start control module. This means it MAY have remote start and or keyless entry. I also see it has the 2.5 engine and the trendline comes with the 2.slow engine. The trendline may have drums, but I cannot verify that.

Looking at some of the interior pictures it looks like they will have push button start. Moose, when was the last time a VW had rear drum brakes?

The cabrio and jetta/golf III. The last of the cabrio and some jetta/golfIII's had rear disc.

It won't have drum brakes. Simply won't. It'd be a BIG detractor from the "new and improved" thing VW is going for.

It's gonna have the 2.0, 2.5, 2.0T, and TDI. Manual transmissions are standard, DSG is an option on all models I believe.

It's not a hatch back or a sexywagen. I dont like it.

2.0.... ah so that's the lower base price huh

I'm also noticing no more temp setting on the climatronic.... that seems like a step back.....

Still glad I got the Mark V when I was looking for a new car. The jetta isn't bad, but hopefully they come out with the coupe version that was shown a while ago.

I hope they have improved the 2.0 gasser. Mileage on that engine is worse than the 2.5. I think my 2005 Beetle was rated at 19/27 and this car is bigger. I'm not sure people can overlook bad mileage for reliability.

I think if you assume the same evolutions in the 2.0 that are reflected in the 2.5 it should get mid 130s for hp and I'd expect a couple mpg more than the 2.5.

2.0 still gets 85KW power. Also, the base will have drums and solid rear axle and no a/c with crank windows. Im goin to school tmorrow so I hope they have one there.

I don't forsee them selling many base models in the US if that's the case. At least not in any warmer clients. Maybe in Canada.

I can only hope the higher trim level dumps the solid rear axle and drum brakes..... seriosuly that's a step backwards or a few steps....
