Hello from Vermont... home of... I guess a huge selection of microbreweries.

I have been driving bunnies for and VWs for years. Started at 15 with my permit in a 1980 Rabbit D (we were the first owners). Moved on to an 84 Rabbit, 86 Golf, 80 Scirocco, 84 Rabbit L, 84 Rabbit GTI (the green Rabbit), 83 Rabbit GTI (black Rabbit), 8? Rabbit something-a-rather (the one with the VW symbols), 01 Golf 4-door 1.8T and will be picking up a full race 80 Rabbit in two weeks. Oh, and my wife has a 04 Jetta 1.8T. Throw in the 01 F250 crewcab to tow the racers to the events. Ack!

The 2001 1.8T that I purchased for $1800 as a roll-over.

It went from this:

Running this:

For a VERY mild 18psi for 272 wHP (315 cHP) on stock internals. Now has non-stock internals and we are hoping for 400 cHP. It's not a Rabbit, so I'll spare you the details. If you are bored... 22 pages on the topic HERE (http://www.dubsnorth.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3541) including cage build, turbo install, suspension, etc.

Anyway, it's late.

Steve

Oh, other Rabbit projects that I have had over the past few years are located on VermontRacing.com in the Projects section. Includes building ice racing tires. :drive:

Wow. Beaucoup props on the fix-up with that mkiv. The others look like a lot of fun too. I want to have second rabbit from 75-81 but cant find one. Guess they're all still on the road

Nice, rabbit farmer. I have always liked the old rabbits, and I like watching videos of old souped up rabbits beating high end luxery cars. hehe

I'll post up some pictures of my 80 Rabbit sometime in March. Quite an engineering feat.... by the previous owner... and the reason that I am purchasing it. Independent rear suspension, lowered a lot WITHOUT changing the suspension geometry (raised strut towers and elongated mounting points on the hub), raised shifting lever, etc. Really nice race Rabbit. The previous owner also built/helped build (unsure his exact level of involvement) a 600HP AWD V-6 (a Buick race engine) Scirocco. Video of that car HERE (http://hillclimb.org/photo_video/video_page/video_page.htm). Right click and save as on the "Ascutney (Dan Rutan #81) In-Car" video. Some photos of the build are HERE (http://www.williracing.vermontracing.com/shop/dan/car/dan_build.htm). He did build an incredible 1.8T old style Scirocco. Gotta love dubs. :)
