Hey-

Quick question for ya'll. When I bought my Rabbit I really wanted the 16" Alloy Magny Cours wheels. The dealer really wanted to get rid of something on the lot rather than paying to bring in exactly what I wanted so they offered to take a great UG 4 door (what I wanted) and put on 16" Bioline wheels from a brand new Jetta. They said they'd give me these wheels (which "would normally cost $1300") at the same price as a the Magny Cours ($400).

Now keep in mind, I really am a huge noob and knew next to nothing about VW's and car buying in general. I liked how they looked and thought I was getting a great deal so I went with them. I think they look as good if not better than the Magny Cours, but should I be pissed because they really aren't a $1300 option? In reality, if they wanted to give me a $1300 set of wheels I would have asked for 17" Vision V's or something....

Did I get screwed? Should I be upset? Is there anything I can do?

Thanks for the help, it is amazing how fast I've learned about VW's and Rabbits from reading a couple forums... wish I had done it before buying the car!

Well either way if u got some free rims, its a win win. And personally, Id rather have the Jetta rims than the Magney's.

Not free, $400. The same price as the Magnys. But yea... which do ya'll prefer?

Go with those wheels from the Jetta...if they are from a Wolfsburg Edition, you will be a one of kind...

I like the way they look; it'll be distinctive...and you got them at less than invoice. But peel that dealership sticker off the back at first chance - if you feel like you've been taken, why give them free publicity?

Just removed via hair dryer and goo gone. It was one of those decals where every letter was its own sticker... annoying, but it felt good (and it looks good).

I have the Jetta rims, too. Same story. I was pleasantly surprised.

I personally like the Magny's and that's what I have, but that might also be just because my brother drives a Jetta with those rims so I'm kind of sick of seeing them.

If you like the Jetta ones and you're happy with them, than that's all that matters, and you got rims you like for the same price as what you may have gotten otherwise.

I had a similar experience! The dealer did not have the Magnys, but did have a brand new Jetta 16" alloy set, so I paid the $400...and kept the original 15" steels, tires and wheel covers. I used the 15" tires on a Saab. I'm happy, and the dealer was happy! But, now I gotta set of wheel covers I don't have a use for...

they're 16" alloy wheels for the same price, why does it matter if they really are a $1300 option or not? even if they're only a $400 option, that's all you paid. i think it was pretty damn nice of the dealer to do that, mine wasn't willing to even find me the color i wanted, i just took the one they had.
