Hi,
I just noticed that I didn't get a valet key with my new Tiguan. Is it suppose to come with one?

Thanks
Will

if you have a Black and Metallic Silver FOB...your valet key is inside your fob..look on the fob where it attaches to the key ring...on that silver area look on the side of the fob there should be a lil button you push it in with your finger nail...and the key(black) comes completely out of the fob..

dumb question...I have a 2010 and I don't even see any keyholes on the handles. Is there no way to open the doors without the FOB?

A very polite RTFM. It's under the plastic cap.

Extremely polite I thought ;-)

ABQTJ - If you need to open the door without the actual key (key fob got wet or something), the small piece of the door handle to the right when facing the car (driver's side) comes off and there is a key slot beneath it. I believe to remove the cap, you need to hold the door handle open and you can use the tip of your key to reach underneath the piece of door handle trip, and pop it off. There will be a key slot beneath it.

As for a Valet key... I have a 2010 Tiguan Wolfsburg, and it came with a black key fob with the spring loaded silver key. I do not see anyway to remove the key. Are you sure that isn't an SEL option or something?

Here is an extract form my 2011 Tiguan Owner's Manual covering the valet key:

I don't know if there is a difference between NA and European fobs, but we have a separate key as pictured above that my wife carries with her at all times.

Thanks! That makes sense.
