Getting my wisdom teeth taken out. They are allowing me to bring my ipod to help calm me down. Just wanted to know if it will hurt? ;D

Are you getting a local or general?

A general will obviously not hurt at all -- until you wake up. When I had mine pulled, I received a general, and man was I hiiiiiiiigh when I woke up. Like, "my hands are so huge" high. I didn't know what was going on, some nurse was babbering on about blood on my shirt. I tried to speak, but my lips straight on through to my throat was completely numb. So l just make grunting noises. Then they tried to get me to drink a milkshake or something... wow, was that difficult. I had no idea if I was sucking on the straw, if the straw was even in my mouth, how much of the mystery gunk was in my mouth, or what pipe it was about to go down. If fact, I didn't know if I swallowed correctly until I felt the cold hit my stomach! Then I staggered around a bit, someone had to help me walk and stand. Got in the car, reclined the seat and staired and the clouds on the way home. Slept that afternoon... took one pain killer (some crazy perscription stuff, supposed 3X the strength of a tylanol 3) and that was it. The drugs and freezing wore off, there was some pain, but not enough that I wanted to injest chemicals. So I just sucked it up.

I don't think they are putting me all the way under. Probably 4 shots of novacaine. I want some codine or oxycotin!

I had mine done 3 months after joining the Air Force....I was in Korea I didn't want to feel a thing..so I got knocked out the night before in the Hospital, took a pill in the am, had the surgery, woke up took another pill, then day 3 I was out walking back to the Dorms.. Thurday NIght-Saturday morning. I didn't feel a thing and they gave my Tylox (sp?).. No dry socket, or any complications.. I think it's comming practice of the Military to remove them when you join....no joke.... Here are some links..

Stay calm Mr. Cool, you'll do fine. I think it costs more to put you out, but if they can I recommend it.

Come to think of it. I don't think the gas is covered under the dental insurance.
