i have a black lab (zoe) and a fat old black cat (cat). because they are so dark, pictures rarely turn out right for either of them.

zoe is the coolest dog ever. i have credited her with saving my youngest son's life when he was 1. if it wasn't for her, we'd be one kid short to this very day...

cat is REALLY old. she was born in misawa, japan while we were stationed there in the AF. she will be 15 years old this summer. she had a name when she was younger, but we found that it was inappropriate for children so we started calling her "cat" about the time that our oldest son started talking.

in the past few months we've sort of adopted another cat. she is white with gray leopard-like patches on her. we had a few names for her, but we finally settled on "mayonnaise". not really sure why, i guess the kids thought it was funny. her nickname is now "sprayo-mayo". she torments the old cat (she still hasn't been declawed or spayed) at every chance. the weird thing about her is that she doesn't "meow". i mean AT ALL. strange. i stepped on her foot once as i was getting ready to go to work one day and she let out this little squeak. for this reason, i sometimes call her "squeaky".

if i ever get a picture that doesn't look like a silhouette, i'll post it, but that's what they all look like to me...

well, he had just learned how to walk and the wife went to the neighbor's house to feed their dog because they were away for the weekend. i thought that he went with her (it was on-base housing and it was like 100 feet away). well, zoe was pretty young and we hadn't had her for more than a couple months or so at the time. i was on the computer (really old and slow) minding my own business and the dog kept whining and jumping on me and going to the door. i couldn't figure it out. she seemed really anxious about something, tho, so i finally went to see. i looked out for a second, i could see the neighbor's house where the wife was at and i was just about to turn away when i see (about 600 yards down the road) kody's little head bobbing up and down passed the parked cars as he walked down the road. HOLY CRAP! i took off as fast as i could run and got him before he could get either into the woods or into the main road. if i would have waited 30 seconds longer, i'm convinced he would have been GONE. it gives me shivers to this very day.

ever since then, zoe can do whatever the hell she wants. she has the run of the house. in fact, she's ship-wrecked on the couch as i type this. all 90lbs of her. she's such a cool dog! she really is a hero, in my opinion...

You should be able to find a local breeder that can hook you up. 1600 is rediculious, dont forget most pet stores stock animals from puppy farms. Those tend to have the most medical problems because of over breeding and inbreeding.

1 or my old cats did that same thing. **** herself (fart) and then sort of slink away guiltily. You say her name and she looks at you like "what?" She was awesome though...she used to play fetch and she was also super affectionate for a cat. Smart. She also used to flick stuff into the air to herself. Never saw any other cats do that

Update:

I regret to say that Winston the Wiener Dog had a disk disease. He had jumped off of our bed in the morning (aggravating the disease), he was limping a little bit but by 1am he couldn't move his back legs. We took him to the emergency vet where he was put on a steroid. The vet sent us for further testing at Tufts Veterinary Hospital. After a CT Scan and an attempt to remove a legion from his disk the surgeon noticed his spinal cord was purple (I guess its not supposed to be that color) and jello-e. The surgeon recommended that he be put to rest. But like the movie says All dogs go to heaven.
