Here is my 1984 GTI that I built.
Formerly an NGP show car out east, ended up out here in Wisconsin.
I got it as a shell only. Designed/built the electrical system myself around a CE2 fusebox, full MSnS standalone implementation, some other odds and ends too.
Specs:
Engine/Drivetrain:
OBD1 2.0L ABA
9A Transmission
MegaSquirt n' Spark Standalone Engine Management
Innovative LC-1 Wideband O2
2.25" TT Aluminized cat back, Magnaflow muffler
TT Cat Delete
TT Stainless Downpipe
Stock mk3 Manifold
Suspension:
Bilstein Sport Struts
H&R Sport Springs
Stock rear sway
No front sway
Electronics/Interior:
MSnS + LC1
Fully custom CE2 wiring harness
Black cabby dash and carpet
Cabby cluster (Rolled back to 0 miles when I built her, perks of mileage exempt ;))
Stock mk4 non-monsoon head unit and cd changer with old school pioneer 6x9's
Mk2 8v GLI/GTI seats
Exterior/misc:
I hate the paint job on it, still trying to find time to paint it
Classic Snowflakes
Polished aluminum bumpers
I love this car. Have a question? Ask! :p
So yea, pics.

Thanks guys! I'll get moar piktars soon. Phonics_Monkey is a good friend of mine and recommended me here. In return, I still make fun of his warranties. (Insert laughing smiley here)

So here are some more pics, bear in mind the car is very dirty. I honestly do not remember the last time I cleaned the seats.
Engine bay as it is now:

The previous engine to the ABA was a 1.8 RV out of a '92 Jetta. I got the motor in unknown condition and hadn't ran in over 3 years. Needless to say, it started right up!
Here is the bay before the swap, this was taken last October I think:

So how much modification is needed to go from a MKI motor mounts to a MKII then to a MKIII?

None! Same mounts!
All 4-cyl VW motors used the same mounts up to the AEB 1.8T. Well, not the same mounts, but the bolt holes for the mounts were still there. The only "change" would be the transmission mounts. Only O2O's are "bolt-in" for mk1's. O2A's and O2J's require custom mounts to bolt to the mk1 body.
But it is possible to put in the mounting points or a subframe from a mk2/3, it's been done on VR6 swapped mk1's (and other motor combos for that matter) for a while. All it needs is time, a welder, and creativity. ;)
That's a fine looking rabbit.... welcome!
Thanks! :Ciao:
