: A/C Issue

I have an 08 Rabbit that I think may have a slight A/C issue. I thought I would post here and see what the general consensus was before taking it to the dealership. The car has 35000 miles on it.

I typically keep my air set right in the middle of the dial (72 Degrees). However, recently it has been really hot in SE Florida (of course, we're getting into the Super Heat Season) and I've tried lowering the dial, even all the way to 64. However, I don't notice a difference in the temperature of the air coming from the vents at all. I've tried this on both fresh air and recirculate. In order to make sure the dial wasn't stuck, I turned it above 72, all the way to 80 and it got really warm so I don't think the issue is a stuck dial. Does anybody know what might be happening with the air not getting any cooler or minimally so? I'm not really mechanically oriented from a car point of view but is there anything I can try at home before dragging to the dealership (it's not far, just time consuming).

Thanks in advance!

try this...

start your car...

press the defrost button and the recycle air button in at the same time for a few seconds until it starts flashing. Hopefully this resets what ever problem has caused.

Actually, you have no issue at all. You have a semi automatic climate control. Nomatter what you set the dial at (except allt he way cold) it will try and pump cool air until it reaches the desired temp. Full cold will not limit the a/c but keep it as cold as it can get. So if you set it to 68, it will blow full cold until it reaches 68 in the cabin, then maintain that temp. So pretty much its auto climate control except the last click cold and the last click hot.

That's good to know. I had no idea it would actually try to get to the desired temp, I thought it was just for reference. My last vehicle had fully auto climate control and it was awesome. I think I may take it in and let them charge the air though, seems like when it's on full cold that the output should be colder than it is!
