so i played a mp3 cd today for the first time and it wouldn't let me change the tracks... if i wanted to hear a different song i would have to listen through the entire cd until i got to the particular song. when i would push the arrow to change the track it would say root F000. is it normal to not be able to switch songs?

but it is cool how it says the titles of the songs :)

A strange thing happened to me only once when I first used a cd-r w/ mp3s on it. The first track of nine inch nails I played (although not the first track I listened to) kind of locked up the stereo. The song played but I couldn't fastforward, reverse, change track, etc., the buttons had no effect. The only thing I could do was turn the stereo off which didn't help. Finally after the track ended everything went back to normal. All I can say is WTF. Try reburning the disc, that's all I got for ya.

when you play mp3s, to change the track you have to turn the scan button located to your right "the knob".

I listen to mp3's in mine all the time and it let's me change the song or folder using the arrown buttons on the right. One says "folder" and one says 'Track", I think. I'll have to go look to be sure, but I've never had a problem with it.

Is there a particular way to burn/format the mp3s? My boyfriend burned me a disc yesterday and the cd player spit out and said "Cd Rom"

In mp3 format, you just burn the cd as a "data" cd. If he or uses software like roxio or whatever just drag and drop mp3's and create a data cd.

well he used nero and definitely burned them as data. there's over 7 hours worth of music. maybe it's the cheap office max cd? i just dont understand why it's not working. >:(

ok, is it a dvd disc? I just noticed you said 7 hours. 7 hours wont fit on a standard disc. i bet its a dvd disc, which the rabbit will not read.

Perhaps the folder stucture is not what the player likes. Check the manual for details. I do believe there is a limit to the number of tracks in one folder. I am at work, so can't check.

We think it's because there are no folders.

I just checked the manual, and while having folders is not mentioned as madatory, it is implied. I created a disk and have created folders with each artists album in a seperate folder. Works fine. Ther is also a lot of stuff in the manual on creating playlists, but ihaven't tried that so I can offer no more advice than to read the manual.

If you just burn it as files it should fit.

Hello,

You should not create a data CD to play in the Rabbit. All recording software have a "create MP3 disk" in options such as "Nero" or "Roxio". Therefore once you have all your .mp3's just drag them where it says to create a MP3 disk and not data cd.

That is what I have been doing, and it plays fine in my car.

I have used both MP3 disk and data....both worked fine
