I have leased a 2008 Touareg. I had a blow out on the right rear tire. This was one of 4 original tires with about 16,500 miles on each tire. The tires had been rotated about every 5000 and the wear pattern is even. My question is: Can I just replace the ruined tire, or do I have to replace more than one tire? The operations manual indicates only replacement of the once tire. What are the considerations? What are the possible negative impacts? This is an all wheel drive vehicle with a V-6 engine.

You should replace at the very least two tires.

The difference between a used tire and a new tire in the circumference on the same axle could raise havoc with the computer.
