: Accessory Options: Davenport and Savannah Alloys
Hasen 06-05-2008, 10:22 AM I've noticed that VW.com is now offering accessory alloys that provide an alternative to the standard 18" New York wheels on the SE.
The first is another 18" option, a 10-spoke alloy wheel called Davenport (http://www.cmgestore.com/vw08/SKUDetailsVW08F5N0071498.ASP), priced at USD $351.57 (VW Part # 5N0071498 666).

The second is a 19" alternative, a 10-spoke alloy wheel called Savannah (http://www.cmgestore.com/vw08/SKUDetailsVW08F5N0071499.ASP), priced at USD $420.63 (VW Part #5N0071499 666).

Both look awesome. I'll probably opt for the 19" Savannah.
bingo 06-05-2008, 02:56 PM we have to pay 1859 euros for the SAVANNAH 255/40/R19 !
Next time I'll come to N.Y. I'll have a big suitcase with me...
professor 06-06-2008, 10:03 PM We opted for the only option we get here. They are called New York. Are these standard in the US and Europe? You can see them here on the black Tiguan. http://www.volkswagentiguan.com.au/
bingo 06-07-2008, 12:24 PM We (Europe) have one standard : the Sport&Style 215/65 R 16 San Francisco. All the others (3) are optional: Los Angelos and Boston (235/55 R 17) and then New York 235/50 R 18. These 4 are mentioned in the brochure. The Davenport/Savannah have to be found on the web.
bingo 06-07-2008, 12:28 PM PS See you've got the Xenon lights on your list. We do have a lot off happy customers about the Xenon in the mountains. I didn't take those (too expencive) but are thinking about a kit afterwards (half priced off the originals)...
professor 06-07-2008, 07:37 PM bingo, my experience in starting with halogens and then upgrading to xenons with adaptive steering input signals was a ton of codes being flashed back at me. i eventually got it all fixed though so it is possible.
bingo 06-12-2008, 12:53 PM as we started on the Davenport wheels here's a nice picture with the wheels on...
bingo 06-27-2008, 12:26 PM and some more pictures of a Tiguan 163 HP with the Davenports.
bingo 08-16-2008, 09:27 AM I've found 2 versions 19" (+ 2 colour version) and one of 20" on the belgium VW Tiguan website. The 20" is the one you spot on the heading of the 2 forum Abt pictures. (compared with foreign prices: prices are in red in euro taxes included)
EARL97850 09-04-2008, 08:10 PM You will get a better choice of tires if you go with the 17,18 inch wheels.
I've run into this problem on my Touareg. The 19in selection is scarce and expensive compared to other sizes.

mtb2002 09-10-2008, 08:01 PM Can anyone tell me how the ride feels with the 19" Savannah's (it's spelled with and without an h depending where on VW you look)? Also, what tire size do you have on the 19s? I'm having a tough time deciding between 18" and 19" for my new Tiguan (didn't order it yet as the dealer is willing to swap what comes on the car, plus add'l cost).
My thougths so far:
19" Savannah = looks awesome (especially the bi-color), probably handles great. But, the ride may be too stiff, and more risky for sidewall slashes, potholes..
18" Davenports = Very nice look. No bi-color. But 18" is more practical for tire availability/ price/ and durability.
18" New York = these come on the SEL in the states. For some reason, I dont' like them much. Maybe because I grew up in New York.

Bump. Interested if anyone has experience with the 19s. Love the look but don't want to sacrifice TOO much comfort. I also don't like the New York wheels but would consider Davenports. What about wider 255/45/18 tires too? I have the stock 17s that I'll be using as a dedicated snow set but want something with summer rubber for the warm months.
Prawn 08-03-2009, 06:03 AM anyone know what type and size rubber come standard on the davenport alloys in australia?
also rubber make ie Bridgestone etc?
what other aftermarket alloys have people got instead of the davenports?
Prawn 12-06-2009, 07:42 PM if you are going with the 18" rims, best to have 235/50 or 245/45 tyres fitted?
Titus 11-27-2010, 07:29 PM I see I’m about a year and a half late to this thread, but what the hell, I’ll add to it anyway ...
Just picked up a new 2011 Tiguan SE. Came with the 18” New York wheels but I had the 19” Savanna wheels with ContiProContact 255/40R19 tires installed before I picked it up. I don’t really remember how the 18” New York wheels felt when I test drove the car the day I bought it, but the 19” Savannas do ride very firm. Traded a 2008 Audi A4 with the stiff, factory-tuned sport suspension, so I don’t find the Tiguan’s ride uncomfortable or noisy. Then again, I’ve only put 275 miles on it so far.
My set of 18” New York wheels with Pirelli Scorpion tires (with 23 miles on them) are now for sale. First $1,200 (plus shipping from northern New Jersey) takes them. Unfortunately, the space in my garage is more valuable to me than an extra set of wheels/tires.
