So I got to drive my friends 2.0T Wolfsburg Jetta and I fell in love with the turbo engine. So much it made me want to trade in my Rabbit for a GTI. I am looking at getting a 08 4dr GTI. What words of advice can you guys give me in my adventure?

Don't get raped on your trade-in.

Insist the the dealer that you are perfectly happy with your car, and if you don't get the deal you want, you'd be more than happy to get in your Rabbit and drive away happy.

And be prepared to.

You'd be surprised how much more fun a Rabbit with intake/exhaust can be than a stock GTI.

Do you plan on modding? If not, it's not worth the price difference.

Bingo... Decide if you plan to mod the GTI if you do get it. If you do, prepare to put down a pretty penny for those mods.

great idea, pretty much financing the mods on a rabbit and you also get the features that come with a gti, the seats for instance

i traded an 07 2door rabbit for an 08 2door gti in july. if you like the rabbit, you'll love the gti. remember, tho, a rabbit is about 90% what a gti is. and it costs, what, $6k more? i think it was worth it, but you gotta ask yourself if you can be happy with what you got already. initially, i had a hard time parting with my rabbit...

S3aturnR, did you get chipped yet? If not, do it and you'll REALLY fall in love with the GTI.
